Coronado High School to be Part of 'Every 15 Minute' Program

Students from Coronado High School will be part of the Every 15 Minutes program next week.

The two-day event works to personalize the consequences of drinking and driving. The Henderson Police Department is partnering with the Clark County School District, Henderson Fire Department and other groups to conduct the program.

On Thursday, November 8, a fatal car accident will be simulated for the students. During the demonstration, one student will be declared “dead”, another will be taken to the hospital with major injuries and the student driver will be arrested for driving under the influence.

There will also be students taken from class and declared “dead,” every 15 minutes. Those students will show other kids just how many teenagers die in a car crash around the country every day. It also demonstrates that every 15 minutes a driver, passenger or bystander dies from an alcohol-related car crash.
