Suspect arrested in Sept.16 deadly shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – One person is in custody after a deadly shooting on September 16. 

Metro Police identified and arrested 18-year-old Mario Frieson as the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident on September 24 by members of the CAT team.

Police say on September 16 at 3:35 p.m., authorities received a 911 call saying that a male had been shot in an apartment complex located in the 5300 block of E. Lake Mead Boulevard.

After arriving on scene, an adult male was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to the hospital and later died of the injuries. Evidence indicated the male victim was just outside of his apartment when he was observed arguing with two black males, according to police.

‘Dino Man’ hosts 20,000+ visitors a year at his prehistoric Henderson home

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Anyone who’s ever driven down Greenway Road in Henderson, you might have noticed that one house near Horizon Drive is a little more decorated than others. That’s because Steve Springer has turned his home into Shan-Gri-La Prehistoric Park, and anyone can take a tour.

For example, when groups of students visit the Henderson home every day after school, they don’t only stop by for free candy and toys, they also stop by to learn.

“I think I work as hard now as I did when I was teaching,” Steve Springer said as he laughed. 

The retired teacher isn’t a paleontologist, but what he does is pretty close to that title. 

“Everybody calls me the ‘Dino Man,'” he said.

Deputy U.S. Marshal shoots dog after it allegedly attacked neighbor

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Deputy U.S. Marshal shot and killed a dog in the northwest Wednesday morning. According to the U.S. Marshal’s office, the deputy, who’s assigned to the District of Nevada, heard a woman screaming in the area of North Hualapai Way and Clark County 215 around 6:30 a.m. So he went to check it out.

Officials say when the deputy marshal approached the residence, he saw his neighbor being viciously attacked by a pit bull dog. The deputy marshal shot the dog twice in an attempt to stop the attack.

The dog limped across the road and collapsed and died. Metro Police responded to the scene, and an ambulance was called to take the woman to the hospital.

It turns out the woman had been exercising in her garage with the door open when the unrestrained pit bull came into the garage and attacked the leashed family dog. When she tried to intervene and separate the dogs the pit bull turned around and attacked her. ... Read More
