MGM, Buffalo Wild Wings launch mobile football game

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A casino company and a nationwide sports bar are launching a mobile football game for customers to pick favorite NFL teams, choose weekly fantasy performers and make proposition picks.

MGM Resorts International and Buffalo Wild Wings said Thursday their partnership called Roar Digital will offer a sports betting-style experience starting with a free-to-play football game. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Rookie camp is the first big event that kicks off the preseason for the Golden Knights which starts on Sept. 15. The camp started Thursday and is chance for the rookies to get in some serious playing time.

Numbers show Democrats made slight gains with Nevada voters

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) – New voter registration numbers show Democrats made slight gains in Nevada last month, maintaining their edge over Republicans.

Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske’s office reported this week that the Democratic Party registered more than 5,300 voters in August, while Republicans registered about 3,600 voters.

About 4,400 people registered as nonpartisan voters.

Cegavske’s office reports that Democrats constitute about 38% of active, registered voters while Republicans make up 33% and unaffiliated voters make up 22%.

The Independent American Party has 4% of the active registered voters, while the Libertarian Party has just over 1%... Read More

Woman accused of killing UNLV professor charged in ex-husband’s death

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman accused of killing a UNLV professor in 2016 has now been charged with the murder of her husband 11 years prior.An arrest warrant was issued for Rita Colon this week after police took a closer look at her ex-spouse’s death.

Now, she’s awaiting extradition in Peru.

Edwin Colon Jr. died from a stab wound to the neck in 2005 at a home near Ann Rd. and Camino Al Norte. According to an affidavit, his death was ruled a suicide.

Eleven years later, Leroy Pelton was found stabbed to death in 2016 inside of his Henderson home. His death remained a mystery for a while.

“Who would do this to such a nice caring man?” said LaChasity Carroll, a former student.

The prime suspect was Pelton’s girlfriend, a woman named Rita Colon.

Friends speak on the life of woman who’s remains were found in a 55 gallon drum

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Devastated friends spoke to 8 News Now about Jennifer Ratay Wednesday. The 39-year-old woman’s body was found in a 55 gallon drum inside a garage on Tuesday, according to police. 

Wendy Wilder is one of Ratay’s close, childhood friends. She said what happened to the woman is “just not right.” 

“She didn’t deserve this,” Wilder said as sorrow soaked through her words. “We were inseparable, all through high school.”

Wilder spoke about her friend’s life she said was stolen way too soon. 

“I wish I could have spent more time with you” Wilder shared her message to Ratay. “I didn’t know that you were in so much trouble.”

38-year-old Chuck Chaiyakul confessed to Ratay’s murder, according to police. He reportedly admitted to shooting and killing her. Officers even said he told them where to find her body. ... Read More
