COVID-19 case reported at Centennial High School

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Parents of students at one CCSD school received a notice Thursday night of a positive COVID-19 case.

Centennial High School Principal Keith Wipperman sent out the following letter to parents Thursday night:

This is Keith Wipperman, Principal at Centennial High School.

Today we learned an individual at our school tested positive for COVID-19. 

CCSD is prohibited by federal law from revealing the identity of the individual; however, the District is working in collaboration with the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) to perform the necessary contact tracing. NHP: I-15 SB reopens after discovery of stolen vehicle near Jean

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) says I-15 southbound near the stateline has reopened. A stolen vehicle found near Jean, Nevada, prompted the earlier closure Thursday night.

This occurred just before 7:30 p.m. at mile marker 5.

Fleury sets another milestone in Hall of Fame career

LAS VEGAS (KLAS-TV) - The Golden Knights are on the road in the middle of their four-game series in southern California.

The Knights came away with a win over the Kings, but the game was significant for another reason. In the latest edition of ‘Striking Gold’ Marc-Andre Fleury is currently carving his legacy in Vegas pro sports history. The man nicknamed ‘flower’ is now number four all-time with 485 career wins.

'Queen of the Arts' sculptures unveiled at West Las Vegas Arts Center

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The West Las Vegas Arts Center has an incredible new addition.

The “Queen of the Arts” sculptures were unveiled in a special ceremony Thursday.

The 15-feet tall structures celebrate African American culture and were created by renowned international artists, Gus and Lina Ocampolsilva.

The works of art were selected by West Las Vegas community members in 2016 to grace the entrance of the arts center.

"Finally seeing the product of their labor go up today and seeing the communities reaction to it and how much the love it is just really, it's what public art is all about,” said Ally Haymes-Hamblem, Director of Cultural Affairs for Las Vegas.

Completion of the project was made possible by a $40,000 donation from the Hughes Corporation to the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas Life... Read More

I-Team: Las Vegas man who consumed marijuana before trip detained overseas, faces prison time

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A Las Vegas man who reportedly consumed marijuana before visiting the United Arab Emirates has been detained for nearly two months, his lawyer and officials confirmed to the I-Team.

Peter Clark, 51, flew to Dubai in late February for a business trip, his lawyer, Radha Stirling shared. Clark became ill with pancreatitis and was hospitalized. After a urine test found traces of marijuana in his system, Clark was detained and put in jail, Stirling said.

Recreational marijuana use is legal in Nevada, but not in the UAE. Even so, Clark faces a prison sentence of several years, Stirling said.

Clark is now awaiting the next steps from a hotel room. He is working with federal officials and the American embassy, officials confirmed... Read More

Knights go Duck hunting this weekend in Anaheim

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- It's an off day for the Vegas Golden Knights. They face the Anaheim Ducks Friday and Sunday during their chase after first place Colorado.

That is currently the challenge right now, but Vegas can't seem to make up any ground as the Avs also keep winning.

They don't have much time to catch up, with only 14 more games left in the regular season. Vegas is done with the Kings, winning six out of eight games against Lost Angeles.

Now, they've got the Ducks twice over the next four days.

The Golden Knights are 4-1 against Anaheim this season. They've scored 15 against the team but given up 10.

Here's an interesting number: Vegas has had 18 different players who have registered at least one point against Anaheim. Wednesday night's win over the Kings was big, as they take momentum into the pair in Anaheim. ... Read More
