Nevada State College to Host iPhone Photography Exhibit

“Vegas from the Hip,” a photography exhibit of 99 images of Las Vegas all shot with iPhones and the Hipstamatic app, will open at Nevada State College at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29.

Gregory Robinson, Ph.D., assistant professor of English at Nevada State College coordinated the exhibit and selected 99 images from 41 photographers for the display.  The exhibit was funded with a grant from the Nevada Arts Council.

Clark County Museum Guild Hosts Photo Odyssey

The Clark County Museum Guild will host a photography day at the Clark County Museum from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. Pre-registered photographers will be able to photograph professionally styled models and vintage cars, located in and around the historic homes and outdoor exhibits of the museum grounds.  Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is $20.

Free Easter Event at Ethel M

Ethel M Chocolates invites the public to hop into Spring at its Botanical Cactus Garden with the annual Easter Egg-Stravaganza weekend, April 22 - 24.

The free three-day event promises fun for the whole family and will feature photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, as well as a balloon artist and face painting. Guests are invited to stroll the beautiful trails of the blooming Botanical Cactus Garden and take a complimentary self-guided tour of the Ethel M Chocolates factory, getting a first-hand look at how the chocolates are made.

Ethel M's Easter Egg-Stravaganza runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Pet-A-Palooza Returns Saturday

Pet-A-Palooza Returns Saturday

The 12th Annual Pet-A-Palooza festival in support of animals in need returns Saturday near Sam Boyd Stadium.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and takes place at Star Nursery Fields at Sam Boyd Stadium, 7000 Russell Rd.

Admission is an $8 donation for adults and is free to children 3 and under, day of/at the door only - advance tickets will not be available for purchase. Parking is $7 per vehicle.

Attendees can receive $2 off the admission price with a donation of pet canned food item at the gate. Additionally, a portion of every ticket sold will benefit one of the 40 non-profit Animal Rescue groups onsite for the event to help feed Las Vegas' hungry animals.

Those Left Behind Foundation Vaccination Clinic is offering free vaccinations at Pet-a-Palooza. Animals must be eight weeks old and not older than 10 years.

Headline entertainment includes artists Train, American Idol’s David Cook, Andy Grammer and FeFe Dobson.

Artist Stephen Fishwick to Perform for Henderson Students

Artist Stephen Fishwick to Perform for Henderson Students

Entertainment painter Stephen Fishwick will host a free performance at 2:15 p.m. Friday for 450 children at the Henderson International School.

He will be painting two endangered species for the children; each 6-foot painting will be created to music for the children in six minutes. Stephen is famous for painting celebrities and animals to music in six minutes by dancing and throwing the paint.

Fishwick hopes to get the kids interested in the arts and to educate them on endangered species.
