One of southern Nevada’s largest hospital operators will embark on a three-year expansion program starting in August.

St. Rose Dominican’s Siena Campus will begin construction on a new five-story hospital tower with a four-story parking garage. The parking structure should be ready in April 2013, at which time the hospital construction will commence.

When the hospital is ready in summer 2015, hospital officials plan to bring 700 new jobs to the Green Valley-area facility. The Siena Campus currently employs about 1,500 people.

Existing areas of the hospital, including the NICU and Emergency Department, will be expanded and remodeled while the parking garage will add almost 500 parking spaces for the campus.

Hospital officials said the Siena campus has faced huge demand for both inpatient and outpatient services since it opened in 2000.

“We have been discussing expansion plans at our Siena Campus in Henderson for several years and are thrilled that the process has now begun in earnest,” said hospital president Rod Davis.

The nearly 220,000-square-foot tower will cost approximately $156 million. Upon initial completion, the tower will add almost 100 private rooms to the Siena Campus, bringing the hospital’s total capacity to 326 adult and pediatric beds.

New patient offerings:

  • 72 adult medical/surgical unit beds
  • 24 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds
  • 36 medical/surgical and ICU beds will be “shelled” and prepared for future expansions
  • 11 new NICU beds (bringing the total to 26 NICU beds)
  • 32 emergency room and observation bays (bringing the total number to 56 ER bays)
  • 6 new operating suites (bringing the total to 16 operating suites)
