Liberty Grad Wins Year of Free Groceries from Fresh & Easy

By Joshua Wikler

Communications Director, Liberty High School

When Eimi Marritt graduated from Liberty High School in June, she immediately began to focus on college, and expenses are always at the forefront of any freshman's mind.

Luckily, Marritt will not have to worry about paying for groceries for a while as the winner of a contest at the grocery chain Fresh & Easy. Marritt entered a graphic design in the company's "Design-A-Bag" contest where entrants were asked to come up with a colorful image to be placed on the reusable bags sold by the market.

"I was really surprised [when I found out that I won]," Marritt said in a Q&A on Fresh & Easy's website. "I'm going to the University of Nevada, Reno and didn't get any scholarships, so [what] I won from this contest will help me pay for food when I move into the dorms."

Is it the End or Just the (Zombie) Beginning?

Is it the End or Just the (Zombie) Beginning?

By Alyssa Laiacona, Liberty High School

Dec. 21, 2012. The world is ending. Are you ready?

For at least a decade now, the year 2012 has been the poster girl for doom  -- much like the previous Y2K incident -- and with the months and days counting down, no one really knows what to expect.

The Mayans ended their calendar Dec. 21, 2012, and millions of followers believe that because of this, 2012 will inevitably end in an apocalypse.

Others take a more specific approach: the catastrophe that the end of the year will bring can only be accompanied by the undead -- zombies.
