New Location of Patty's Closet to Open Near Galleria

 

The sixth southern Nevada location of women’s boutique Patty’s Closet will host a grand opening Saturday morning.

The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. at 605 Mall Ring Circle in Henderson, directly outside the Galleria Mall.

The new store will continue with the existing Patty’s Closet concept and carry only six of each style in sizes small, medium and large. All shoppers will receive 20 percent off their purchase on this day. As an added incentive to those who arrive early, goodie bags will be handed out to the first 100 guests who make purchases.

Maverick Tours Opens New Facility

 

Described as “posh” by company officials, Maverick Aviation Group recently opened a 37,000-square-foot facility at Henderson Executive Airport

The new terminal houses Maverick’s corporate offices, meeting spaces and a state-of-the-art hangar. Customers flying with the company’s Mustang Helicopters or Maverick Airlines will be able to use a new lobby, which features high-definition televisions that broadcast Grand Canyon tips and trivia, as well as a café where passengers can grab a snack and drink before or after their flight.

Maverick is one of the largest private tour operators in southern Nevada.

One of the biggest names in laundry is branching out into dry cleaning.

Panda Dry Cleaning held a grand opening of the first southern Nevada Tide Dry Cleaners store, 10041 Eastern Avenue, Henderson. Tide laundry detergent has been around for 65 years. Now, the parent company Procter & Gamble is expanding the brand to provide dry cleaning.

The new cleaners will use green dry cleaning technology to clean clothes while keeping the environment clear of pollutants.

Dunkin' Donuts Opens New Store

 

Dunkin’ Donuts will open Friday its 15th location in southern Nevada, this one in Green Valley.

The store at10100 S. Eastern Ave. (near St. Rose Pkwy) will be open from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. The shop will be giving away free medium hot or iced coffees to customers between Friday and January 20 - no purchase necessary.

In addition, between January 21 and February 4, the new Dunkin’ Donuts will be holding a food drive for Three Square. Customers who bring in two canned food items will receive a free medium hot or iced coffee.

Local Mall Hosts UNLV Day Sunday

 

Looking to promote more than just its athletics department in the local community, UNLV will host an event at The Galleria at Sunset this weekend.

The mall will host UNLV Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The university will have information and displays available from many of its departments – from admissions to alumni to athletics – for interested students, parents, community partners and athletic fans. There will also be activities for kids introducing them to UNLV and higher education. 

“UNLV is a vital partner in our community and it’s important that we let people know of the opportunities that we offer,” said UNLV President Neal Smatresk. “This will be a great way to find out more about becoming a Rebel and for those who are to celebrate with us.”

Borders stores throughout the valley shut down for good this week, leaving workers to put the final touches on removing their identity. The exterior signs came down this morning at the Sunset Road and Stephanie Street location, as seen in these photos I shot from the parking lot.

Restaurant Week Aids Food Bank Through Dining Deals

More than 120 restaurants will take part in what will be a two-week event this year.

Five years ago, Three Square was a fledgling food bank that was trying to raise both funds and awareness about hunger in Southern Nevada. Its inaugural Restaurant Week, the goal of which was to do both, involved 51 restaurants.
