Help Out by Dining Out

Dining out can help out one of the biggest charities in the Las Vegas Valley.

Some of the top restaurants in Las Vegas are offering special menus for the 5th Annual Restaurant Week which starts Monday and lasts two weeks. The event will help the non-profit Three Square. The prix fixe menus will be offered at 80 restaurants including several restaurants run by celebrity chefs on the Strip. The meals are priced at $20.11, $30.11 and $50.11, a portion of the proceeds will go to Three Square.

The offerings range from steaks to seafood and from Mexican to Italian. The goal is to help end hunger in southern Nevada. The Capital Grille at Fashion Show Mall, Rick Moonen’s rm seafood at Mandalay Bay, Comme Ça at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, TAO at The Venetian, and Diego Mexican Cuisine at MGM Grand are just a few of the great eateries participating in this year's event.

Golden Retriever Rescue Southern Nevada Helps Bella

Golden Retriever Rescue Southern Nevada Helps Bella

Bella, 6, came into our lives as a foster dog on the day after Christmas 2009 but even on the short ride from the hospital to our home, I already knew she would be staying with us. Her physical condition on that day was just pitiful, but not her spirit.

Dine Out Today to Benefit Children

Dine Out Today to Benefit Children

Eat out for a good cause today on International Children’s Day, as 13 local restaurants help mark the occasion.

They will participate in the Building Champions against the Odds Campaign to benefit Nevada Children’s Center (NCC) and commemorate International Children’s Day. Nevada Children’s Center takes part in the global commemoration of children though the Campaign.

These area restaurants have pledged to donate between 10-20 percent of revenue to Nevada Children’s Center, but you must bring a flyer available at www.nccenter.org with you to qualify for the donation.

The Campaign will help NCC in its mission to empower young victims of abuse, neglect, and mental afflictions by providing therapeutic day treatment, behavior modification, and in-home parenting resources in partnership with foster care and child protective advocates and agencies.

Revamped Goodwill Location Set to Debut

Revamped Goodwill Location Set to Debut

Goodwill of Southern Nevada will officially re-open its remodeled Green Valley location at 1421 W. Warm Springs on Friday.

The store was remodeled and a Donation Center was added at their Green Valley location. The addition of a Donation Center not only allows Goodwill the ability to offer store customers the ease of shopping and donating at the same location, but also provides a more central donation location for Henderson residents.

The remodeled store is the first recipient of Goodwill’s newly upgraded point-of-sale cash register system, a system that will eventually be implemented in all eight Goodwill of Southern Nevada retail stores.  Additional upgrades to the store floor include: added store fixtures increasing the merchandise available for sale by more than 40 percent; new dressing rooms and restrooms; and a new look that communicates Goodwill’s mission.
