More than 600 graduating seniors paraded through the hallways of Coronado High School Friday for the first-ever cougar grad walk.

The students donned their full graduation attire and were led down the halls by the school's marching band to commemorate their achievements.

"It was an amazing experience. All the kids from all the schools were standing in the hallway cheering us on as we walked by. It was a great feeling," senior Kedean Tony said.

During the celebration, teachers also wore their black graduation robes. Principal Mike Piccininni says the display not only celebrates the graduates’ achievements but gives younger students something to work for.

"I hope it’s a motivating factor to make sure they understand what the goal is and not just to know what the goal is but to meet that goal," Piccininni said.

He also says it is great to celebrate graduation in the place where the students worked so hard to reach their goal. The graduation ceremony will take place at the Thomas & Mack next Thursday.
