This weekend, on February 26th, the Nevada Regional Science Bowl Tournament took place. It was a 32 team, double elimination tournament, with competitors from Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and California, and at the end of the day, the first place winners were the team from Henderson's Coronado High School! The team won $5,000 for the school, and will be going to Washington D.C. to represent the region in the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl Competition, April 28 - May 2, 2011! Congratulations to Coronado!

Other Vegas Area schools also made an impressive showing, completely dominating the top ten! A team from Palo Verde High School won second place, the Centennial High School "Blue" team took third, The Meadows School "Blue" team came in fourth while The Meadows School "Green" team won fifth place, and Shadow Ridge High School's team placed seventh! Las Vegas is obviously the place to be for budding scientists, congrats to all of our winners!

The Students at Coral Academy will particpate in Jump Rope for Heart!

This Friday, over 200 of Coral Academy of Science's kindergartners, first graders, and second graders will be jumping rope to show their support for the American Heart Association and raise funds for children with special hearts. Last year, Coral Academy students raised over $8,000 during the annual Jump Rope for Heart event, and they hope to top that figure this year. Best of luck to the students this Friday!
