Blues Traveler to Play Henderson Pavilion


A band that had several hit songs during the 90s are back on the stage in Henderson.

Blues Traveler will perform at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 South Green Valley Parkway, Friday, May 17. Tickets for the show go on sale Tuesday.

The Grammy-award winning group is touring in support of their new album "Suzie Cracks the Whip." It is also in honor of their 25th anniversary.

The group is still led by singer John Popper and his harmonica. Their song "Run-Around" topped the charts in the mid-90s.

The city of Henderson hosts the 47th annual Southern Nevada Sons of Erin St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival this weekend, with activities beginning Thursday.

Remodeled Upscale Movie Theater Opens Friday


A long-shuttered movie theater in Green Valley makes a triumphant return Friday as a luxury spot featuring reclining seats and alcohol service.

Galaxy Green Valley Luxury+ Theatre, located in the Green Valley Town Center shopping center at 4500 E. Sunset Rd., will feature  eight screens and luxury amenities including beer on tap and wine service, cushioned reclining seats with powered footrests and extra-wide rows. Reserved seating can be purchased online at galaxytheatres.com, via Galaxy Theatres iPhone and Android app or in-person at the box office. For show times, call 442-0244.

The theater originally closed in 2005 as the entire shopping complex faltered, leaving only Barley’s Casino in the west end of the large area.

End of Summer Block Party Set for Saturday


The city of Henderson and 98.5 KLUC are hosting an end of the summer block party this weekend.

The all-ages music festival will feature Chris Rene, best known from the first season of “The X Factor”, along with Austin Mahone, rapper Outasight, best known for his hit song “Tonight is the Night” and Ryan Beatty, who was nominated for a Teen Choice Award.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Tickets are just $9.85 or $15 for premium seating, plus service fees. Tickets are available online at hendersonlive.com or by calling 702-267-4TIX (4849) or at the Henderson Pavilion box office.

"Suessical" Coming to Henderson Pavilion

A musical based on the magic of Dr. Seuss is coming to the Henderson Pavilion.

RagTag Entertainment and Music Theatre International are mounting a production of “Seussical” Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23, and then again Friday, September 28 through Sunday, September 30.  All shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets are only $10 and are available now either online at hendersonlive.com or at the Henderson Pavilion Box Office, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway.

 The Broadway musical is based on some of the most famous books by the beloved children’s author, including “The Cat in the Hat” and “Horton Hears a Who.” The score mixes pop, R&B, swing and Latin music for a colorful journey.

Five-Casino Fireworks Display for Fourth of July


One of the largest Fourth of July fireworks displays in Las Vegas will be put on by Station Casinos.

The nine minute show will feature fireworks shot off from the tops of five properties, including Aliante Station, Green Valley Ranch Resort, and Red Rock Resort. Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho will be a shared location.

Grucci Fireworks created and will shoot off the display. They are the same group responsible for the New Year's fireworks on the Strip. Planning for the show started eight months ago. It is timed to synchronize with music that will play on the following local radio stations: KKLZ 96.3 FM, KOAS 105.7 FM, KCYE 102.7 FM The Coyote, BOB FM 107.9 FM and KDWN AM720.

“If they have the song “Money,” you will see dollar signs. You will see everything that makes people go: ‘ooh and ahh’," Larry Goetz with Grucci Fireworks said.

The show is slated to start sometime after 9 p.m. Wednesday.
