Girls on the Run Looks for New Recruits

A program designed to improve the overall health of girls in our community is looking for more children to participate.

Thursday coaches with Girls on the Run will meet with interested parents to talk about the program. The meeting will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas Donald W. Reynolds Clubhouse at Robindale Road and Eastern Avenue.

Girls on the Run provides girls with an education in a healthy lifestyle. Like the name suggests the girls participate in running events but that is only part of what they do. Coaches also talk to them about eating healthy, making good choices and improving body image. The idea is to give pre-teen girls the skills they need to stay healthy their whole lives. The whole program culminates in a 5 kilometer run.

The next session starts August 30th at the Reynolds Clubhouse. The girls meet Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for 12 weeks. Check out girlsontherunlv.org for more information.
