Church Gets Approval to Expand | News
The Henderson City Council decided Tuesday to allow the New Song Church of Seven Hills to add more classroom space. The council's decision allows for a zone change for the church's property.
However, the decision came with conditions pushed by residents living near the church. It can only add enough space to offer classes up to first grade, and it can only have 62 students enrolled.
It must also adjust start and drop off times around start times for nearby Del Webb Middle School. The church must also upgrade landscaping.
A neighborhood representative said he and others in the Coventry neighborhood believe the church has long-term plans to expand to offer classes up to fifth grade. However, if the church does go forward with those plans, another condition requires that they notify the entire neighborhood not just those living close to the church.
