A fire that destroyed a home in Henderson is still under investigation as fire investigators try to find a cause.

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. Wednesday at a home near Santiago Drive and North Stephanie Street.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from several of the attic vents as well as smoke coming from the rear of the home.

By the time firefighters started fighting the fire, it had already damaged the attic to the point that a significant portion of the roof collapsed. The crews were pulled from the structure and started a defensive operation.

The two adults in the home at the time were alerted to the fire by neighbors. They were able to get out without getting hurt. One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The total fire loss is estimated at $210,000.
