Four People Arrested on DUI Charges During Checkpoint

Henderson Police arrested four people on DUI charges during its sobriety checkpoint Friday night into Saturday morning.

The checkpoint was conducted from 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday on St. Rose Parkway near Eastern Avenue.

According to police, a total of 2,616 cars went through the eastbound lanes of the checkpoint and 3,074 cars went through the westbound lanes. Most of those drivers were not impaired.

In addition to the DUI arrests, five motorist and passengers were arrested on drug-related charges.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there are far more fatalities over the Labor Day weekend than the New Year's holiday, which most people think is the worst time of year for DUI-related accidents.
