Coroner ID's Victims in Crash on I-15
News

LAS VEGAS -- The two people killed in the crash along I-15 near St. Rose Parkway have been identified.

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the first victim as Yoshiko Brigette Morishita, 25 of Marino Valley, California. The second victim is Gustavo Macias, 26 of Marino Valley, California.

The cause of death for both victims is multiple blunt force trauma. The manner of death is listed as accidental.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, the Nissan Sedan that Morishita and Macias were in collided with a tractor trailer truck shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses say the tractor trailer was traveling southbound on I-15 in the right lane and hit the Nissan, forcing it through the gore area and into the desert. The cab of the truck jack-knifed and landed on its side.

"We do not know how the passenger car was involved, whether it was stalled in the travel lane, or if it cut in front of the truck. We're not sure yet," NHP trooper Jeremie Elliott said. "We don't know the cause of this accident."

The crash remains under investigation.
