Coroner IDs teen killed in rollover, I-15 near Apex | News
LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the person killed Saturday in a fatal rollover accident that shut down parts of I-15 at mile marker 60.
Mike Guerrer-Sisneroz of Lincoln, NE was the 19- year-old man driving when his SUV crashed, according to the coroners office. Trooper Loy Hixson with Nevada Highway Patrol said when the crash happened at 11:56 a.m., there were two people in the car.
NHP said the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling northbound from California when the left side tires went off the road. Guerrer-Sisneroz over corrected the steering to the right and veered into the southbound lanes, according to troopers.
The SUV lost control and it overturned entering the median and striking the barrier. NHP said the Pathfinder continued to overturn before stopping right side up on southbound I-15 facing south in the area up towards Apex.
Guerrer-Sisneroz died at the scene and the 18-year-old female passenger, whose name hasn't been released, was flown to University Medical Center in serious condition.
Southbound I-15 was shut down, so the helicopter could land, according to Hixson. Both the north and southbound inside lanes were blocked off while NHP investigated.
