More Closures for Bridge Work Near Airport

More Closures for Bridge Work Near Airport

The ongoing bridge work near McCarran Airport will create more traffic headaches for drivers this weekend.

Temporary overnight closures will be in place on the ramps between the airport connector and the eastbound lanes of the I-215 overnight Sunday.

From 7 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, traffic will be diverted away from both the northbound ramp, which takes traffic off eastbound 215 and then north into the airport, and the southbound ramp, which takes traffic south out of the airport to eastbound 215.

During the closure, the westbound I-215 ramp to the airport will not be affected and will serve as a detour.  Eastbound I-215 traffic will be detoured to the Warm Springs exit and back onto I-215 to use the westbound ramp to the airport tunnel.

Henderson Police Get Money for Special Traffic Enforcement Efforts

Henderson Police announced a plan to have 11 special traffic enforcement efforts over the next year thanks to a grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety.

The department received $105,000 in federal funding through the state in the Joining Forces program. Officers will focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt usage, speeding, distracted driving and impaired drivers.

“I have worked many traffic accidents in my time as a police officer and know the impact that a drunk driver can have on a family and a community,” Henderson Police Chief Patrick Moers said. “I know that our efforts will help reduce the number of drunken drivers on our roadways and increase the number of people wearing their seat belts.”
