Arrest made in random killing of 24-year-old father at gas station

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Las Vegas police have arrested a man who they say shot and killed a man while he was pumping gas in March.

Roderick Lee, 34, was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of open murder, according to a news release from Metro police.

Kashif Brown, 24, was gunned down at a gas station at Valley View Boulevard and Alta Drive on March 22, 2021. Police called the attack random and held a news conference a few weeks after it happened to release surveillance video and urged anyone with information to contact them.

Brown, who has a large family, left behind a wife and three daughters. Family members say he was filling his gas tank up to go to work when the shooting happened. ... Read More

Summerlin hosts America's Birthday Party Parade on July 3

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A long-time tradition is back for its 27th year, after going virtual last year. The Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade has become a favorite for celebrating the Fourth of July festivities.

This year, America's Birthday Party Parade, promises to be an "entertainment-packed community showcase with all the pageantry and spirit you've come to expect," according to the Summerlin parade website.

The parade takes place on Saturday, July 3 at 9 a.m. and will include 25 themed entries as well as parade floats, giant inflatable balloons, cartoon characters, superheros, mascots and performances by the Drumbots, Desert Angels gospel choir, West Las Vegas Arts Center, Danza del Carrizo native American dancers, Swing It Sisters, Guan Strong lion dancers, stilt walkers and a DJ... VGK-Canadiens tickets go on sale today at 3 p.m. for Knights home games

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Single-game tickets for Vegas Golden Knights games against the Montreal Canadiens will go on sale to the general public at 3 p.m. today, according to the team.

The Knights and the Canadiens will play Game 1 at T-Mobile Arena on Monday, June 14 at 6 p.m., and Game 2 will be Wednesday, June 16 at 6 p.m.

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce bringing national conference to Las Vegas, Sept. 26-28

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will bring its largest event to Las Vegas on Sept. 26-28, bringing together business leaders at their national conference.

The announcement came in a news release from the Latin Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas.

Details of the conference location have not been released, but the organization's website has a spot where registration information will be posted.

PBR rides back into Las Vegas with the world's best bulls and bull riders

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The world's best are in Las Vegas to prove their skills at the Professional Bull Riders' Unleash the Beast tour Friday and Saturday at MGM Grand Garden.

This will be PBR's first Vegas event with fans since November 2019. The event is back in Las Vegas after having to relocate in 2020 and early 2021 because of Nevada's COVID-19 restrictions.

The league’s history spans more than 28 years in Las Vegas.

This year, there is a historic partnership between PBR and the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo which is the nation’s only all-Black touring rodeo.

What's Driving You Crazy? - Delayed flyover opening in the Centennial Bowl

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) - A ramp opening update and more from – where else? - the 95 and the northern 215 beltway. You got it: we're . . . "Centennial Bowling!"

The last freeway-to-freeway flyover bridge in the Centennial Bowl was tentatively scheduled to open next month. I just learned from Nevada Dept of Transportation spokesman Tony Illia that that's been pushed back to the end of the year.

If you drive there regularly you know I'm talking about the connecter from southbound US95 to the eastbound 215. Like many changes in all our lives, it's pandemic-related. The ultimate project completion finish line of 2024 hasn't changed.

Another tidbit from Tony concerns one of the pictures we showed you last week about the expansion of Skypointe. A big step forward for that is the pouring of the top deck for what will be known as “John Herbert Blvd.”
