Police: Medical episode may be cause of fatal crash at Flamingo, Durango

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A 56-year-old man is dead following a crash in southwest Las Vegas Friday morning. Police believe the crash may have been the result of a medical episode.

According to Metro Police, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near Flamingo Road and Durango Drive which caused the intersection to be closed for about three hours.

The crash only involved the one car. The vehicle ended up hitting a large utility pole.

The driver was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver's death will not be counted as a traffic-related fatality until after the coroner determines the cause of death.
