Man Arrested for Impersonating an Officer

A Las Vegas man is under arrest on charges of impersonating a police officer.

According to Henderson Police, 44-year-old Lawrence DiVetro has been booked into the Henderson Detention Center on charges of impersonating an officer, burglary and kidnapping.

Police said DiVetro demanded a sexual favor from a massage parlor worker at Sunset Spa, which is located on Sunset Road. When the masseuse refused, he told her he was a Henderson Police officer and she was under arrest, police said.

He detained her, but eventually told her he would need to talk to his supervisor. At that point, he left the building and did not return, according to detectives.

When police found DiVetro, he had a gold badge and handcuffs in the seat of his car. He admitted that he did show the woman a badge but said it was to prevent a crime after he was offered sexual favors.

Anyone with information is asked to call Henderson Police Department at (702) 267-4750, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
