Safekey, Teen Scene Registration Begins Soon


Parents of students in elementary and middle school can register their children for after-school programs beginning next month.

The City of Henderson is offering early Safekey and Teen Scene, before- and after-school enrichment programs hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department at all Henderson public elementary and middle schools.

Early registration is available at the following times:

  • 3-7 p.m. from August 15-17
  • 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on August 18
  • 3-7 p.m. from August 22-24

It will take place at the following locations:

  • Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Rd.
  • Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy.
  • Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
  • Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy.
  • Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Dr.

The department will also accept early registration at the Cox Back To School Fair hosted at the Galleria At Sunset Mall, 1300 W. Sunset Rd., starting at 10 a.m. on August 25.

Early registration must be made in-person.

Safekey is a before- and after-school program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. It features a variety of crafts, games and special activities for kids while their parents work.

Teen Scene is an after-school program for teens in grades six through eight. It is designed to provide a safe, supervised environment for teens while their parents work. The program includes arts and crafts, sports, and activities that promote confidence and self-esteem.
