The Sound of Liberty Marching Band continued their strong season in the past two weeks.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Patriots competed at Palo Verde High School against four other bands in their class. The Patriots came in a strong second place behind the Cheyenne Desert Shield Marching Band.

This past Saturday, the Sound of Liberty Marching Band competed at Clark High School at the annual Tournament on the Turf. Of the five bands that were in Class A, the Patriots again came in second place losing by just one point to Cheyenne. Even though the band placed second, they received first place in music and music performance.

"Saturday was our best run of the show in performance yet," Director Travis Whaley said. "Even though the kids didn't place first, they were still very happy with their performance."

These two second-place finishes, coupled with two first-place performances earlier in the year, have the band regarded as a top program in their class.

The next and final competition for the Sound of Liberty Marching Band will be held at Sierra Vista High School on Saturday, Nov. 10. The Patriots perform at 10:30 a.m. and will compete against eight other band in their class.

"With some changes and additions to the show, we should be able to surge ahead to the top of our pool," Whaley added.  "[We] are ready to push to the end of the competitive season. I know I am excited to see what these kids can do."
