Throw Away the Old at Henderson Shines

Can’t figure out what to do with those old computers or other unusual trash? Henderson has a way for you to dispose of them the right way.

Henderson is dedicating a day to help residents clean up their garages, yards and neighborhoods. People will have the opportunity to safely dispose of trash, recyclables, hazardous materials and usable donations at Henderson Shines, an event to be held May 21 at Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. The event runs from 10 a.m .to 2 p.m.

Henderson Shines is a community clean-up and education day where residents can dispose of unwanted items while learning about the importance of sustainability. The event includes activities for kids, food, music, and educational tables from a variety of community organizations and city departments. Residents can gather information on neighborhood enhancement and how they can help protect our environment and support the sustainability of Henderson.

“This is a great effort to bring community partners together and help our residents safely dispose of their unwanted items,” Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen said. “Henderson Shines is the perfect opportunity for residents who don’t know what to do with old paint cans, TVs, computers, or even just old boxes of papers that need to be shred. Everyone can bring those old, unwanted materials down and safely dispose of them and have fun in the process.”

The community can also view and vote on entries from the Henderson Shines – Recycle It! photo contest. Winners will be announced at the event.
