Clerks at nine businesses in Henderson have been cited for selling alcohol to minors during a sting operation.

Henderson police say they made alcohol compliance checks over the weekend at convenience, liquor and grocery stores. Community relations officers worked with underage volunteers to test the businesses.

The majority of stores tested did not sell to minors. The voluteers went into 73 and 64 didn't sell alcohol to them.

Clerks at the other nine stores face a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Owners of a business that fails a second or third time could lose their business license.

The businesses that failed:
  • Rebel Gas Station, 10000 S. Eastern Ave.
  • City Stop, 971 S. Boulder Highway
  • Lee’s Discount Liquor, 1338 S. Boulder Highway
  • Shell Gas Station, 500 Conestoga Way
  • AM/PM Gas Station, 4161 E. St. Rose Parkway
  • 7-Eleven, 835 Seven Hills Drive
  • Trader Joe’s, 2716 N. Green Valley Parkway
  • Vons, 45 E. Horizon Ridge Parkway
  • Branded Meats & Deli, 1550 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway

Henderson officials say the operation is part of an ongoing effort to keep alcohol out of reach for minors and cut down on alcohol-related crimes.
