Voting in Henderson’s municipal election does not require going to a traditional polling place. Instead, registered voters can choose from any of 10 locations to cast their ballots for the city’s mayor and council.

The locations are spread throughout the city for the April 2 primary election from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vote centers replace traditional precinct polling locations and were introduced in Henderson in the 2007 municipal election.

Early voting remains open through March 29. A list of early voting sites can be found at VoteHendersonNV.com.

Henderson municipal elections are nonpartisan. Registered voters may vote for any candidate regardless of party affiliation or the ward in which they reside. In addition, candidates’ party affiliations do not appear on the ballot or in the sample ballot.

This year, voters in Henderson will chooose a mayor, councilman for Ward III and municipal court judge for Department I. Councilman terms are four years and the municipal court judge term is six years.

In each of the elected offices, if a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the primary election, that candidate is declared elected and no general election is needed for that office. If no one candidate is declared elected, the two candidates in each office with the highest percentages of votes cast will move forward to the general election June 4.

For information on candidates or to download a voter guide, call the city of Office of the City Clerk at 267-1400.
