The inaugural Henderson Dueling Deuces Youth Tennis Tournament, sponsored by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and the United States Tennis Association, arrives May 14.

The event provides an outstanding opportunity for young players to compete against their comparably skilled peers in an atmosphere that promotes sportsmanship, determination, and skill.

"Parents often have the misconception that tennis is an expensive sport, but the reality is that the City of Henderson offers dozens of classes and lessons for all ages and skill levels, and it's very affordable and accessible," said Ted Lockamon, Recreation Services supervisor.

The tournament will be held at 9 a.m. at O'Callaghan Park,601 Skyline Rd. (at Horizon Drive) and is open to players ages 12-16. Play features co-rec singles and co-rec doubles with a guaranteed minimum of four sets per player.

Registration is $40 per person, per event (singles or doubles). Tennis balls are provided; players must bring their own rackets. Each player receives a T-shirt, and awards will be presented to first and second place finishers in each division.

Register online at cityofhenderson.com/parks (activity 623137), in person at any City of Henderson recreation center, or in person at the City’s Sports office, located at 298 Arroyo Grande Blvd.
