City Parks and Rec Department Honored
The City of Henderson received a handful of awards for its work at the Program Excellence Awards of the Nevada Recreation and Park Society (NRPS).
Dirk Richwine, recreation superintendent for the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department, received the NRPS Citation Award for outstanding contribution to the field of public parks and recreation. Richwine received the award for his contributions on the local, state, regional, and national levels. He is a fellow of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and was appointed by the National Park and Recreation Association (NRPA) as its representative to the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).
Agencies from around the state submitted their work to NRPS for award consideration. Henderson’s Parks and Recreation Department received four Elmer Anderson Awards for excellence in parks.
